Supplier Code of Conduct

The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. (ELC) was founded on the values of uncompromising ethics, integrity, fairness, diversity and trust. As a condition of doing business with ELC, we expect our suppliers to honor our company values and our commitment to operating as a responsible and sustainable corporate citizen and to fully comply with our Supplier Code of Conduct (“Supplier Code”).

In partnership with our suppliers and everyone we touch, we are committed to compliance with the law, ethical business practices and fostering our heritage of respect for people and the environment and serving as a positive influence in the communities we serve and from which we source.

We aim to develop long-lasting, trusting and mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers who share our strong values and who demonstrate the same commitment to operating responsibly and ethically across all facets of business.

We recognize our suppliers operate in diverse legal and cultural environments throughout the world. The Supplier Code sets forth the basic requirements we expect of suppliers, including vendors, service providers, independent contractors and consultants, as a condition of doing business with ELC.

The Supplier Code, which is based on internationally recognized standards, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and International Labor Organization’s Conventions, consists of the following Core Principles:

  1. ENGAGE IN LAWFUL AND ETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES
  2. PROMOTE A RESPECTFUL, FAIR AND DIVERSE WORKPLACE
  3. PROVIDE A SAFE, HEALTHY WORKPLACE AND PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT AND COMMUNITY

ELC Suppliers and their officers, directors and employees must adhere to the highest standards of ethical business conduct and must not engage in bribery or corruption in any form, either directly or through third parties. We expect ELC Suppliers to promote anti-bribery and anti-corruption compliance in their organizations through developing their own standards, which should be designed to facilitate compliance with legal requirements, including the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

If an ELC Supplier appears to be in non-compliance with the Supplier Code, we expect the ELC Supplier to cooperate and provide additional information, for us to decide whether such ELC Supplier is in compliance.

If we determine the ELC Supplier is not in compliance, then the remedies may include, among other things, termination of business with ELC or the development and implementation of a corrective action plan that would need to be implemented within a certain fixed time period. ELC may follow such implementation by a follow up audit, as it deems appropriate.

We truly believe that by conducting business in accordance with this Supplier Code, we are all positively contributing to society and the environment for current and future generations.

Supplier Sustainability Guidelines

ELC’s Supplier Sustainability Guidelines (“Guidelines”) provide suppliers with practical actions they can take, building on the foundation of the Supplier Code requirements, to move towards best practice.

ELC is committed to partnering with suppliers on this continuous improvement journey and we encourage our suppliers to use the Guidelines as a self-assessment tool. The Guidelines are comprehensive but not exhaustive and do not preclude suppliers from going beyond what’s recommended. The Guidelines are for information purposes only and do not constitute a new set of requirements or replace legal or professional advice.
