Fighting Breast Cancer Doesn’t End in October

Company Feature

The Estée Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Campaign continues on its mission to create a breast cancer-free world. In honor of World Cancer Day, celebrated on February 4, the Company recognizes all those touched by breast cancer – and all cancers.

This past October, we embarked on our largest ever, one-year fundraising goal of $8 million in support of our 25th Anniversary. We marked this milestone with an original documentary “Unraveling the Pink Ribbon: Creating a Breast Cancer-Free World,” a film directed by Sophy Holland that celebrates the historic achievements in breast cancer science, the larger, global breast cancer movement that has progressed from awareness to action—and the people who have made it possible.

Through a series of interviews and archival video footage, the film tells the story of the evolution of breast cancer—how it was perceived, the people that worked tirelessly to bring more funding to the cause, the international and historic impact of The Campaign, and the science and research that pushes us to the next frontier. Watch the video.

"Supporting the development of critical research, driving awareness and helping to eliminate the cultural barriers that can prevent the identification and treatment of breast cancer has been our core Company focus since my mother, Evelyn H. Lauder, founded The Breast Cancer Campaign 25 years ago,” says William P. Lauder, Executive Chairman of The Estée Lauder Companies and Global Ambassador of The Breast Cancer Campaign. “I am continuously humbled and energized by the passion and care exhibited by our employees and the tireless dedication of our partners – whose work is getting us closer to a global cure each and every day. As a Company, our commitment has not and will not waver.”
