The Estée Lauder Companies Launches Civic Engagement Task Force

The company launches task force and joins the Civic Alliance initiative

Company Feature

Building on The Estée Lauder Companies’ (ELC) longstanding tradition of community involvement, the company is launching a nonpartisan, employee-led Civic Engagement Task Force to encourage, empower, and inspire ELC employees’ civic efforts in their communities. This year, the initially U.S.-focused task force will concentrate on supporting voting, including providing employees resources to register and actively participate in the voting process.

"Community engagement has always been a part of our company’s values,” said Maria Cristina Gonzalez Noguera, Senior Vice President, Global Public Affairs at ELC. “We are excited to bring these values to life in a new way and, with our task force of engaged, civic-minded employees, develop initiatives and take actions that support employees’ participation in their communities.”

ELC has joined Civic Alliance, a nonpartisan group of businesses working together to build a future where everyone participates in shaping our country

To support these overall civic engagement efforts, the company has joined the Civic Alliance. Founded by Democracy Works and the CAA Foundation, the Civic Alliance brings together and supports its member companies to take concrete actions that encourage internal and external audiences to participate in elections and be active members of their communities. ELC is proud to be the first beauty company to join the initiative, along with other leading companies including: Target; Patagonia; Lyft; Starbucks; Microsoft; Snap; Twitter; and Spotify. The company is excited to work with the Civic Alliance and its members to increase voter turnout and foster a culture of civic engagement within ELC and our communities.

The Civic Engagement Task Force was first assembled through ELC’s Employee Resource Group (ERG) structure in late 2019 and has continued to expand. It will initially focus on voting, and will broaden its focus next year to help the company advance initiatives and actions to sustain employees’ civic-minded efforts in their communities. While the task force will initially be U.S.-focused, ELC hopes to grow it in the coming years and support employees’ civic engagement globally.
