ELC Relief Efforts for Hurricane Maria and Mexico Earthquakes

Company Feature

The Estée Lauder Companies is deeply saddened by the devastating effects of the many recent natural disasters globally, and our deepest thoughts and concerns are with our employees, local partners and communities that have been affected by these disasters.

Last week, Hurricane Maria greatly devastated Puerto Rico and many other parts of the Caribbean that had already been battered by recent storms. Mexico also suffered from earthquakes earlier this month, which have left catastrophic damage to many parts of the country, including Mexico City.

The recovery for these communities will take significant time, energy and resources. The Estée Lauder Companies will be taking the following immediate actions and will continue to explore other options to provide meaningful long-term support:

  • In addition to the previous $250,000 donation that The Estée Lauder Companies made to American Red Cross to support recovery programs implemented for Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, the Company will be donating an additional $100,000 to Red Cross to support Hurricane Maria relief efforts in Puerto Rico
  • The Company will also make a $100,000 donation to Cruz Roja Mexicana (Mexican Red Cross) for earthquake recovery efforts
  • The Company is also providing support by way of sending emergency supplies to those in affected areas of Puerto Rico
  • The ELC Good Works double-match employee donation campaign, through U.S. Good Works, has now been extended through the end of October to the following organizations that are providing relief support across many of these disaster areas: American Red Cross, Feeding America, Houston SPCA, and Save the Children
  • ELC Good Works will also continue to match dollar-for-dollar any U.S. full-time employee donations to other eligible non-profits via U.S. Good Works
  • M.A.C Mexico will commit MXN 1,000,000 to partner with local organizations including Mexico Vivo, which is working to ensure that people affected receive critical health services. The M∙A∙C AIDS Fund will donate $125,000 to support affected Puerto Rican communities via grants to the following organizations: Bill’s Kitchen (food pantry/meal program), Banco de la Alimentos de Puerto Rico (local food bank involved in disaster response), and El Punto en la Montana (syringe access program)

We are inspired and heartened by the outpouring of support we have received from our employees seeking to help with local relief efforts. Our commitment to caring for our employees and the communities in which we live and work, especially in times of need, is integral to our Company’s values, and our Company is continuously evaluating ways to offer support.
