Julie Van Ongevalle to Step Down as Global Brand President, Origins

Julie Van Ongevalle will be stepping down as Global Brand President, Origins, and leaving The Estée Lauder Companies, effective July 17, 2020, to become Executive Vice President, Head of Consumer Healthcare at Sanofi, a global biopharmaceutical company. Her new role is based in Paris, France, and she will relocate there with her family to start her new role in September. A successor for Julie’s role will be announced at a later date. 

Julie has built a fantastic career at The Estée Lauder Companies, having held leadership roles of increasing responsibility across brands and regions since she joined the company more than 15 years ago as Marketing Director, Clinique, Benelux. Notably, she held several senior positions at M·A·C, including Senior Vice President, General Manager, M·A·C, North America, and Vice President and General Manager, M·A·C, EMEA. While in EMEA, she cultivated strong retailer relationships, established long-term distribution strategies, strengthened regional and field structures, and enhanced consumer engagement, contributing to the growth of M·A·C’s share in the region. She also spearheaded M·A·C’s entry into new emerging markets in sub-Saharan Africa and Eastern Europe. 

In her most recent role at the helm of Origins, Julie focused on the brand’s high-performance natural positioning and hero product assortment to accelerate fast growing channels, and modernized the brand's digital communications to engage a new generation of millennial and Gen Z consumers, resulting in double-digit growth globally. 

She also served as Co-Lead of the Enterprise Sustainability Transformation Pillar, where she was responsible for driving our company’s commitments and strategic ambitions to be a leader in the areas of Citizenship & Sustainability.

Julie is a highly talented leader and brand builder, and her keen understanding of consumers, channels and market dynamics will serve her well in her new position. The Estée Lauder Companies thanks her for her terrific contributions to the company.
