The Estée Lauder Companies Announces North America Leadership Updates

NEW YORK – October 10, 2016 – Today, The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. (NYSE:EL) announced the following leadership updates for its North America business:

Gustavo Andriani has been appointed Senior Vice President, General Manager, M·A·C Cosmetics – North America, effective October 3, 2016. He will continue reporting to Thia Breen, Group President, North America and will add a reporting line to Karen Buglisi-Weiler, Global Brand President, M·A·C Cosmetics.

Lisa Sequino has been appointed Senior Vice President, General Manager, Estée Lauder and AERIN Beauty – North America, effective November 1, 2016. She will continue reporting to Thia Breen, Group President, North America and will add a reporting line to Stéphane de la Faverie, Global Brand President, Estée Lauder.

Mendy Charlton has been appointed Vice President, General Manager, Bobbi Brown – North America, effective November 1, 2016. She will continue to report directly to Thia Breen, Group President, North America and will add a reporting line to Peter Lichtenthal, Global Brand President, Bobbi Brown & Bumble and bumble.

In their new roles, Mr. Andriani, Ms. Sequino and Ms. Charlton will develop and lead the execution of their brands’ go-to-market strategies in North America – overseeing Marketing, Account Management, Field Sales and Education /Artist Training and Development. This will include developing a winning strategy for their business’s respective retail channels, including freestanding stores, department stores, specialty-multi, Online, and omnichannel. Additionally, they will lead digital marketing and social media strategies in North America for their respective brands, and further drive consumer engagement across all touchpoints, including in store.

Gustavo Andriani appointed Senior Vice President, General Manager, M·A·C Cosmetics – North America
With a deep understanding of consumer engagement and local relevance, and a proven track record of building brands, Gustavo Andriani is ideally suited to lead the next phase of growth for M·A·C Cosmetics in North America. As Senior Vice President, Key Account Management for Macy's since January 2014, Mr. Andriani leveraged the scale and diversity of the Company’s brand portfolio to accelerate Online growth as well as optimize opportunities in areas such as merchandising, demo effectiveness, and consumer insights. Macy’s remains an important retail partner for the Company, and as such, a successor for Mr. Andriani’s current role will be named at a later date. Mr. Andriani joined the Company in 2011 as Executive Director, Marketing, Estée Lauder – North America, and in 2012 he was promoted to Vice President Marketing, Estée Lauder – North America. In these roles, he led the execution of some of the Estée Lauder brand’s largest marketing programs and launches.

Lisa Sequino appointed Senior Vice President, General Manager, Estée Lauder and AERIN Beauty – North America
Lisa Sequino’s expertise of the North America market and her widely-regarded leadership in growing retail channels such as specialty-multi and Online make her well poised to take on this important role for the Company. In addition to Estée Lauder North America leadership, Ms. Sequino will also be responsible for AERIN Beauty as it grows its luxury fragrance and beauty business in North America. Since joining The Estée Lauder Companies in 2013, Ms. Sequino has held marketing and brand leadership roles of increasing responsibility on multiple brands, including Tom Ford Beauty, Michael Kors, Tory Burch and Marni. In her most recent role as Vice President, Key Account Management - Specialty-Multi, North America, she worked closely with the Company’s brands, functions and retail partners on initiatives, programs and product offerings that capitalize on untapped growth opportunities unique to specialty-multi, and she identified significant incremental retail sales opportunities. Specialty-multi growth continues to be a key strategic priority for the Company and as such, a successor to Ms. Sequino’s current role will be announced at a later date.

Mendy Charlton appointed Vice President, General Manager, Bobbi Brown – North America
Mendy Charlton’s strong brand and retail leadership experience and her extensive knowledge of the North America market position her well for this role. Ms. Charlton began her career with The Estée Lauder Companies in the field in 1998, where she progressed from store-level roles to Regional Vice President, South Central U.S. In 2008, she was appointed Vice President, Marketing, Estée Lauder – North America, where she was responsible for driving the brand’s North America market share and profitability. In 2011, Ms. Charlton relocated to Colorado, where she joined Inspirato, a global luxury travel club, as Senior Vice President of Marketing. Since returning to the Company in January 2013, Ms. Charlton has held the role of Vice President, Key Account Management – Nordstrom. In this position she has played a vital role in driving sales and growth opportunities for the Company’s portfolio of brands at Nordstrom, while collaborating closely with the retailer on strategic initiatives. Nordstrom remains a key retail partner for the Company in North America; as such, a successor for Ms. Charlton’s current role will be announced at a later date.
